I’ve had one of these for years. One of my favorite coats. It is warm and comfortable, I’ve used hunting when it has been below 0. i really like that the collar turns into a hood. Very well made.

Just received my outdoor/hunting coat in Adirondack plaid. The fully lined interior is fantastic along with the obvious high quality. This is my second wool coat from Johnson Woolen Mills and it makes Michigan winters even better. The coat has a classy look compared to today’s Chinese made coats. Thank you Johnson.

You can’t get a better product. Especially on cold winter days like we’re having. I bought a new one 2 years ago. That’s because the previous one I’d bought–35 years earlier–was finally showing its age.

Third jacket from Johnson. I purchased my first five years ago and after as many New England winters it still looks new and is still my go to from fall to spring. I was visiting Vermont recently and finally got to to Johnsons store where I purchased this jacket on sale in Adirondack. Love everything about it. Awesome for the really cold days or snow.I chose this jacket over the Mackinaw for the double zipper and button flap feature and more extensive color options. I do like the fold away hood/collar but I would have opted for a solid insulated hood like the one on the Mackinaw if available.

I was looking for an alternative to a Filson Mackanaw… I found it here. Wonderful jacket and workmanship. I put it through its paces in the last three days hiking, and it breathed really well, as well as keeping me warm. Made in the USA, and it should last a lifetime… If on the fence on sizes… order one size up if you want to layer for very cold weather. The hood is a wonderful addition. This is a traditional coat Lee Wulff could have been proud of. Vermont again! Zipper is smooth, and pockets are ample. A piece of America here!

Like Erik, I was looking for an alternative to a Filson Mackinaw. I had had a Mackinaw from another manufacturer and was profoundly disappointed in that it was heavy and not that warm. Plus I found button only closures leaked a good amount of heat even with a storm flap. This jacket solved all those problems. It is warm, I wore it to -15F this winter, The hood works very well, andmit cuts wind much better then an unlined wool Mackinaw. Five Stars Johnson Mills! I have found my new favorite winter jacket.

Like Erik above, I was looking for an alternative to a Filson Mackinaw. Plus I had had a Woolrich Mackinaw and was very disappointed. It was not very warm and very heavy. I found the Johnson Mills hunting coat to be everything I had hoped. The zipper closure is superior in keeping in warmth to the old button closures, and the lining let’s it cut wind much better then a unlined Mackinac. Five Stars Johnson Mills! I have a new favorite winter coat! I wore it this last winter in temperatures down to -15F and was very comfortable.
